Published: Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

ROCK FALLS – The Coloma Township Park District will have its 16th annual 2ball Competition at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at Rock Falls Middle School, 1701 12th Ave.

The cost is $1. 2ball is a basketball game played by a two-player team.

Each team has 1 minute to score as many baskets as possible from any of the seven shooting spots identified on the game court. Point values range from two to eight.

The game is open to participants ages 9 to 18, based on the player’s age on Feb. 23. Registration forms are available at the park district administrative office, 508 E. 11th St. Players cannot change partners once they enter the competition.

Any child, younger than 15, can compete once in the adult-child division as well as his or her own age division. Adults can compete multiple times in the adult-child division, provided they are competing with a different youth participant each time.

One player begins at the half-court line with the ball. The second starts at any place within the half-court area.

The player at half court dribbles to any shooting spot and either shoots or passes the ball. A player cannot shoot consecutively from the same spot.

Teammates must alternate shots. The last shot must leave the player’s hand before the final buzzer in order to count.

The seven predetermined shooting spots in the competition and their point values are: lay-up (only two scores allowed) for two points; seven-point spot (17 feet, 5 inches from the basket, left corner); eight-point spot (19 feet, 9 inches from the basket, left of key); two-point spot (10 feet from the basket, top of key); three-point spot (foul line); five-point spot (15 feet, 5 inches from the basket, right of key); and two-point spot (10 feet from the basket, right corner).

All participants will receive an award. Trophies will be awarded to the first-place winners.
