MORRISON – Virginia M. Goodenough, 94, of Morrison, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Pleasant View Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Morrison. She was only 11 days from her 95th birthday.
Virginia was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Bert and Ida (Preston) Goodenough. She graduated from Prairie Center Grade School. She was active in her youth at Morrison United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. Virginia was a leader of Green Dell Prairie Ramblers 4-H Club, and was an active member of the Rural Youth Organization. She also was a member of Morrison Presbyterian Church. During World War II, Virginia worked at Green River Ordnance Plant, and then was employed by Wesclox in LaSalle for 35 years.
Survivors include one niece, Carolyn McCue of Sterling; one nephew, Orville Goodenough Jr. of Morrison; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother; two brothers, Willard and Orville Sr.; one stepbrother, Eugene Langdon; and one niece, Mary Sengel.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A family gathering will be at a later date. McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Fulton is handling arrangements.
