Kenneth D. Lawson 12/19/1940-1/19/2013

MUNCIE, Ind. – Kenneth D. Lawson, 72, of Muncie, Ind., formerly of Dixon, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Muncie.

Kenneth was born Dec. 19, 1940, in Dixon, the son of Donald and Erma (Rutherford) Lawson. He moved to Muncie in 1967. Kenneth attended Northern Illinois University. He had served as the president of N.G. Gilbert Corporation, the Muncie Club, and the Delaware Country Club, all in Muncie.

He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and received a Purple Heart. Kenneth loved golfing, gardening, cooking, fishing, and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Patti Lawson, and daughter, Deidre Lawson, both of Muncie; two sons, Dale Lawson of Muncie and Darren (Annie) Lawson of Denver; grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler and Spencer, all of Muncie, and Lucas, Jacob and Maggie, all of Denver; his mother, Erma (Rutherford) Lawson of Muncie; a sister, Leta (Richard) Stewart of Rockton; a brother, Donald Lawson of Orlando, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald C. Lawson.

Family and friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, Muncie, Ind.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 230 W. Monroe St., Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60606; or the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
