Ill. Tollway patrols help drivers stranded in cold
DOWNERS GROVE (AP) — The Illinois Tollway is dispatching special patrols to help drivers during the first deep freeze of winter.
The Zero Weather Road Patrols search for and respond to calls from stranded motorists when temperatures drop below zero. In a statement Tuesday, Tollway officials said the patrols have helped more than 180 people since cold weather hit on Saturday.
Anyone who needs help may contact the patrols by dialing *999 or by calling Illinois Tollway dispatch.
