ROCK FALLS – Howard D. Jones, 90, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. He was a heavy equipment operator for Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., retiring in 1984.

He was born July 5, 1922, in Johnsonville, a son of Herbert and Vina (Brown) Jones. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Hays on Dec. 3, 1941, in Wayne County. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during World War II.

Surviving are his wife of Rock Falls; his children, Helen Joann Jones of Rock Falls, Betty Schutt (Roger Cruse) of Sterling, Dale (Kathy) Jones of Copperas Cove, Texas, Warren Jones (Vicki Beien) of Sterling, Danny Jones (Sharon Parry) of Rock Falls, David (Marcy) Jones of Chico, Calif., and Jerry (Karen) Jones of Dixon; a sister, Pauline Rodgers of Flora; a stepbrother, Bernard Talbert of Johnsonville; several grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
