Duchesses cruise on road

Brooke Bailey scored 13 points and got some nice support, as Dixon picked up a 33-21 nonconference victory Tuesday in Morris.

Darianne Edwards chipped in 11 points, and Carly Hartle added seven points and 12 rebounds for the Duchesses (8-14), who shot 14-for-21 at the free-throw line as a team.

Oregon 52, Winnebago 35: Emylyn Wright paced a balanced attack with 16 points as the Hawks picked up a road win over the Indians.

Also for Oregon (19-5, 7-1 Big Northern West), Sam Lambrigtsen had 14 points, and Bree Tourtillott added 10.

Caley Niday had 16 for Winnebago (4-17, 1-8).

Riverdale 64, Fulton 37: Nine Steamers scored, but a 39-14 halftime deficit was too much to overcome in Port Byron.

Hannah Nimrick led Riverdale (18-2, 9-1 Three Rivers) with 21 points, and Morgan Sanquist paced Fulton (9-17, 4-7) with nine.

Paw Paw 49, AFC 33: Josie Morgan’s 19 points led the Bulldogs past the Raiders in Paw Paw.

Sarah Matson paced AFC (9-11) with seven points.

Faith Christian 40, Quad City Christian 13: Tressa Schuler scored 20 points as the Falcons cruised in an NICC game in Davenport, Iowa.

Sarah Smith and Katrina Lowry added six apiece for Faith (16-2, 9-0), which also took third place at the Grace Baptist tournament in Kankakee over the weekend.

Women’s basketball

Sauk Valley 65, Black Hawk 59: Behind Lydia Box’s 30 points, the Skyhawks outlasted Black Hawk in Moline.

Box hit five 3s and all three of her free-throw attempts. Sheldeen Joseph added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Sauk (10-7), which led 28-26 at the half.

Holly Nicklaus posted 10 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, and every member of Sauk’s team played. Salena Causevic led Black Hawk with 13 points.
