DIXON – The City Council gave the go-ahead Tuesday for the municipal airport to look into federal grant money.

Mayor Jim Burke said the airport is looking into acquiring a small adjacent lot and would need a federal grant to buy it.

The airport board only is looking into the grant at this time, but Burke said a general grant agreement must be placed on file by the City Council.

Also Tuesday, the council voted 4-0, with Commissioner Dennis Considine abstaining, to confirm seven residents to a governmental task force to review Dixon’s form of government. They are Bill Wadsworth, Tom Shaw, Jack Schrauth, Kelly Allen, Jim Marshall, the Rev. Michael Cole and Marilyn Coffey.

Commissioners will take a final vote Feb. 4 with hopes the task force can start meeting in February.
