Thankful for donations to help the needy

Published: Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

The Caring Center in Sterling helped 13,826 families in 2012. We had 1,556 new families

gave away 127,226 items, had 2,417 people donate items to stock the store, and saw volunteers work 7,961 hours.

We are open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. We are so pleased with donations of new or gently-used household items and clothing for all ages. We are in need of men’s clothing and shoes, and also kitchen items.

If you could help us out with this, we would be so grateful. We are located at 210 First Ave., Sterling. Donation drop-offs are appreciated at the back door in the alley by the parking lot.

If you are dealing with hard times, come and shop at the Caring Center. You can receive up to 20 items and shop two to three times a month; and we give the items away.

Any monetary donation is appreciated. Our cost of operation is paid for by donations from churches, organizations, grants, fundraisers, and individuals.

Note to readers – Irene Nusbaum is manager of the Caring Center.
