STERLING – Registration for the Woodlawn Arts Academy’s spring session opens Feb. 4.

Among the offerings:

Adult Arts and Crafts: Students will complete five projects, including a woven basket, a clay platter and a painting.

Whack Attack!: Learn the joy of music using colorful plastic instruments called Boomwhackers. Slap them into the palm of your hand, on your leg or even over your head, and hear the notes from these tuned tubes. Absolutely no musical experience needed.

Shakespeare in the Park, in partnership with Sauk Valley Community College: This year’s play will be “Romeo and Juliet.” Auditions are Feb. 27 at Sauk. Email anna.k.kurtz@svcc.edu for more info.

Project Fashion: Students will design garments, choose one to make and learn basic pattern-making and sewing skills to complete the garment. Previous sewing experience is encouraged, and students must supply their own fabric.

Wild About Spring Break Arts Camp: Students can spend their week off from school immersed in dance, theatre, cooking, art, music and the Book Club.

Adult Writing Club: Expect conversation, critiques and information on agents, contests, submissions and software. Bring multiple copies of your work to share.

Woodlawn is a United Way of Whiteside County agency, and financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

Go to woodlawnartsacademy.com or call 815-626-4278 for a complete schedule and more details.
