Scholarship applicants sought

STERLING – Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce scholarship applications are now available for the 2013-14 school year.

Each year, the chamber awards scholarships to students pursuing a degree in either business or agriculture.

The Charles A. Farnham Business Scholarship is awarded in honor of an individual who was very active with SVACC.

Farnham’s professional background and employment focus was in industrial relations at Northwestern Steel and Wire where he was a vice president.

Individuals who are pursuing a curriculum of business or industrial relations or an approved business or industrial relations field are eligible to apply for this 1-year, $1,000 scholarship.

The application deadline for the Farnham Scholarship is April 15.

The Agricultural Scholarship is awarded by the SVACC Agri-Business Committee. Scholarship money is available to those pursuing a degree in agriculture.

Applicants must be a current student or resident of the Sauk Valley area.

The application deadline for the agricultural scholarship is March 1.

Scholarship applications are available online at www.saukvalleyareachamber.com and at the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce office, 211 Locust St.

For more information, call the chamber at 815-625-2400.
