Fiesta Cancun may open within month

STERLING – I’ve now heard it from the horse’s mouth.

Fiesta Cancun Authentic Mexican Restaurant in Sterling probably will open in the next month, co-owner Ismael “Mario” Lopez said Tuesday.

And guess where he was when he relayed this bit of information.

In the Sterling restaurant with a couple of other men, working to get it ready. The restaurant at 3203 E. Lincolnway now has designs on the windows, and some booths are in place.

Rock Falls restaurant closes

ROCK FALLS – The Bistro, at the Napp Inn at 510 W. U.S. 30, is closed, and there’s a “restaurant for rent” sign in the parking lot.

The owners could not be reached for comment.

Dixon photo business expands

DIXON – TLSeephotography of Dixon opened Jan. 2 at a new location, 211 S. Peoria Ave., owner Tamara Schmall said.

Schmall is adding a photographer to handle the growth in business, she said. The studio offers family, newborn, maternity, children, animals, senior, sports, engagement and wedding photos.

The business is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and by appointment on Sunday. Call 815-994-0683 or go to www.tlseephotography.com for samples and more information.

First Church of Christ Scientists progressing

DIXON – The walls are up for the super-insulated solar church at the corner of Second Street and Highland Avenue.

The city’s building department did not have a timetable for when the church will be completed, but said the group continues to meet at 10 a.m. Sundays at 324 W. First St., one block north of the new structure.

The Environmental Protection Agency ordered the old building be removed so century-old contaminated soil could be removed.
