Woodlawn Arts sign-up starts next month

STERLING – Registration for the spring session at Woodlawn Arts Academy, 3807 Woodlawn Road, will begin Feb. 4.

Among the programs being offered are:

Adult Arts and Crafts: Students will complete five projects, including a woven basket, a clay platter, and a painting.

Whack Attack: Participants will learn the joy of music using colorful, plastic instruments called Boomwhackers. No musical experience is needed.

Shakespeare in the Park: “Romeo and Juliet” will be performed in partnership with Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon. Auditions will be Feb. 27 at the college, 173 state Route 2. Email anna.k.kurtz@svcc.edu to schedule an audition.

Project Fashion: Students will design garments, choose which one they would like to make, and learn basic pattern-making and sewing skills. Previous sewing experience is helpful. Participants supply their own fabric.

Wild About Spring Break Arts Camp: Students will be involved in dance, theater, cooking, art, music, and book club.

Adult Writing Club: Conversation, critiques, and information on agents, contests, submissions, and software will be provided. Students will need to bring mutliple copies of their work.
