MORRISON – Jean E. Valk, 89, of Morrison, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison.

Jean was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Morrison to Peter L. and Alice (Logemeyer) Temple. She married Harold E. Geerts on Sept. 4, 1945, in Morrison; he died Jan. 7, 1970. She married Dick F. Valk on Oct. 6, 1973, in Morrison; he died June 19, 1988.

Jean worked at Lawton’s Dairy in Sterling, then in the dietary department at Morrison Community Hospital.

Survivors include three daughters; Beth (Sherm) Ashby of Thomson, Lois (Randy) Kuehl and Denise Kuehl, both of Morrison; one stepdaughter, Kathy (Stan) Merema of Fulton; two stepsons; one brother, Warren (Loretta) Temple of Morrison; and 13 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Neil Geerts; a sister, Phyllis Huizenga; and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison with the Rev. Jeff McIlrath officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Reformed Church, Resthave Nursing Home or Self-Help Enterprises in Sterling.
