Sam Lambrigtsen scored 23 points to propel the Oregon Hawks to a 54-39 Big Northern West victory over the Mendota Trojans on Friday night at the Blackhawk Center.
Seven different players scored, and 14 girls played for the Hawks (18-5, 6-1), who bounced back nicely from their first conference loss earlier this week. They trailed 15-8 after the first quarter before outscoring Mendota 46-24 the rest of the way.
Madeline Sanders scored eight points, McKaylee Beeter added seven, and Devyn Absher chipped in six for Oregon.
Karly Near scored 12 points for the Trojans (14-7, 3-5) on four 3-pointers, and Ally Bromenshenkel added 11 points.
Aquin 51, Polo 33: The Bulldogs led 36-11 at the half, and Sophie Brunner played less than 2 minutes of the second half of an NUIC East game in Freeport.
Brunner still tied with teammate Elayna Erdmeier for a game high with 13 points and grabbed five rebounds for Aquin (14-1, 6-0). For Polo (5-14, 4-6), Alina Llanas hit four 3s to match Aleetra Roberts’ 12 points.
Forreston 39, Milledgeville 25: The Cardinals outscored the Missiles 15-4 in the first period and 14-5 in the third in an NUIC East game in Forreston.
Courtney Swalve led the way for Milledgeville (4-15, 2-8) with nine points. Rachel Walton led Forreston (16-8, 8-1) with 18 points.
Eastland 57, Galena 52: The Cougars held a slight scoring advantage over the second and third quarters to pick up an NUIC West win in Lanark.
Courtney Walker scored 14 points in a balanced attack by Eastland (17-7, 6-2), playing again without center Lexis Macomber. All nine Cougars who played in the game scored at least four points.
Brianna Bautsch poured in 24 points for Galena (6-10, 2-5).
East Dubuque 67, West Carroll 26: The Thunder trailed 37-14 by halftime and never recovered in an NUIC West loss on the road.
Ieshia Larson led West Carroll (3-15, 0-7) with nine points. Kalyn Theill scored 26 points, and Michaela Marty added 21 for the Warriors (10-5, 5-3).
