Bureau County Sheriff John Thompson will give a scholarship of $500 to a student living in the county as a permanent resident of Illinois.

Applications are available at www.ilsheriff.org or at the sheriff’s office Mondays through Fridays at 700 S. Main St.

Interested students must complete the application in full, answer the essay question, and return all documentation by March 15.

Bureau County students may return applications directly to Thompson at 22 Park Ave. West or the Main Street address.
