Fix Route 40 now, not later

How about it, you people who use state Route 40 between Milledgeville and Sterling? I know it's more than just a few. This road has been a piece of junk for the past 25 years that I have driven on it.

So let's call IDOT in Dixon and let them know what you think of it, and that you'd like to see it fixed, and not 4 or 5 years from now. Yea, and don't give me the excuse about the state being broke.

If it's so broke, then why do they fix roads that aren't in near as bad a shape, like state Route 78 from Mount Carroll to the county line and from Prophetstown to Interstate 88? I've driven on those roads, and I know they weren't as bad as state Route 40 is.

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
