The Dixon Duchesses bowling team claimed the Northern Illinois Big 12 regular-season championship Thursday, beating out runner-up Morris 78-76 in the season-long points battle.
Sterling was third with 66 points, 10 more than fourth-place Sycamore. LaSalle-Peru rounded out the top five with 50 points.
The Duchesses (11-1) also won a nonconference dual Thursday at Plum Hollow, beating Kewanee 3,256-2,446. Devan Gearhart’s 642 series and 239 high game led the way for Dixon, which easily won all three games.
Emily Quaco (588), Ashley Currier (532) and Autumn Day (531) all rolled 500 series for the Duchesses. Sydney Zetterberg led the Boilermakers with a 469 series.
Dixon will next travel to DeKalb on Monday and try to add a NIB-12 tournament title to its regular-season conference crown.
Rockford Christian 2,798, Oregon 2,376: Down a bowler, the Hawks dropped a dual at Town & Country Lanes in Mount Morris.
Karissa Corbin’s 494 series led Oregon, while Amber Tucker rolled the team’s high game of 174. Rianne Foerster rolled games of 222 and 225 en route to a 646 series for Rockford Christian.
Oregon 3,640, Rockford Christian 3,268: The Hawks closed the regular season with a win at Town & Country Lanes in Mount Morris, wrapping up second place in the Northern Illinois Bowling Conference.
AJ Nordman rolled a 668 series, with games of 215, 233 and 220, to lead the way for Oregon (10-3-1), which finished in the top two in the NIBC for the fourth straight year. Tyler Lathrop added a 648 series that included games of 247 and 227, while Joe Miranda rolled a 626 series, with games of 229 and 226.
Dan Grimm’s 623 series included a 267, the team’s high game for the dual; all six Hawks rolled at least one 200 game. Colton Barney led Rockford Christian with a 651 series and a 258 high game.
Newman splits in ’Bago: The Comets beat the host Indians 40-15, but fell to the Byron Tigers 51-23.
Four Comets won two contested matches each, with Stephen Adamecz (138/145 pounds) and Bryce Ivey (152) both recording a pair of pins. Jake Snow (126) won by pin and technical fall, and Brian Bahrs (160/170) won by pin and decision.
Panthers sweep in Iowa: Erie-Prophetstown defeated Three Rivers rival Amboy 67-9 and the host Indians 56-20 in a triangular in Camanche, Iowa.
Brandon McCullough (106 pounds), Josh Wheeler (132) and Jared Cole (138) all won two contested matches for the Panthers, with Wheeler recording a pair of pins.
Amboy’s Trever Ullrich (126) won by pin and Jason Bontz (152) won by decision against E-P.
Le-Win 81, Fulton 0: The Steamers suffered a lopsided loss at home, giving up seven forfeits and five pins to the Panthers.
West Carroll 2-1 in Iowa: The Thunder beat Davenport North 54-18 and host Northeast 40-39, but fell to Davenport West 38-36 in Goose Lake, Iowa.
Jeff Casey won all three of his 126-pound matches for West Carroll, taking a pair of decisions and a major. Morgan Hartman (145) and Jacob Klein (182/195) each went 2-0, while Jacob Carey (182/195) and Brandon Anderson (220) both went 2-1.
