DIXON – Anthony G. “Tony” Tranka, 60, of Dixon, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was a foreman at Flex-O-Glass in Dixon for 41 years.

Tony was born Sept. 20, 1952, in Amboy, the son of Anthony Otto and Sydonia (Hajek) Tranka. He married Brenda Edwards on July 6, 1976, in Dixon. Anthony was an excellent builder and problem solver, and liked inventing things. He enjoyed gardening, going to tractor pulls, and watching professional wrestling.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Tranka, and two sons, Brian Tranka and Tony Tranka, all of Amboy; two sisters, Maggie (Randy) Hardin of Dixon and Kathy Mungor of Walnut; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Jones, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Dixon, officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy.

A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association.
