MORRISON – Four Morrison High School students earned participation in the Illinois Music Educators Association All-State Music Festival. The event ends today at the Peoria Civic Center.

Senior students Heather Elfline, the daughter of Alan and Shari Elfline, and Savannah and Victoria Horn, the daughters of Joel and Susan Horn, were selected to perform in one of the two concert bands based upon their audition in October for the District 8 Festival.

Kurtis Klimson, the son of Joe and Kate Klimson, was chosen for All-State Honors Choir.

More than 20,000 students auditioned statewide to participate in nine regional festivals during the month of November.

Students in 11th and 12th grade from each of the regions were selected to take part in one of two concert bands, two orchestras, two choirs, two jazz bands, a jazz choir, and a jazz combo at the All-State level. More than 1,000 students are in these ensembles.

In addition, music teachers from Illinois attend the ILMEA All-State Music Conference, “Music in the key of Change,” which is held in conjunction with the festival.

Teachers participate clinic sessions and concerts which inform them of the latest developments in music education, as well as hearing and seeing new teaching materials.
