Sheriff should uphold his oath to Constitution

As the chief law enforcement officer in Whiteside County, Sheriff Wilhelmi took an oath of office to preserve, protect, and defend the state and federal Constitution. I would like to know whether he will honor his oath by refusing to enforce federal rules, regulations, and directives that violate the Constitution of the United States?

As we are aware, the federal government is considering ways to attack the right to bear arms, in particular, the "shall not be infringed" clause of the Second Amendment. This would suppress the rights of law-abiding citizens to own guns and protect their person and families.

It is fact that in areas where the strictest gun control measures are implemented, crime and gun-related deaths rise, and the sheriff's job is made even more difficult.

As the electorate, the people of Whiteside County are the sheriff's employers, and we expect him to represent our constitutional rights in the face of an overreaching federal government. I would like to know that if the sheriff is given an order that violates the Constitution, will he honor his oath, or will he do as directed by the president of the United States?

Sheriff Wilhelmi, being the supreme authority in Whiteside County, trumps all other authorities; federal, state, and local. We need our sheriff to publicly announce his stand in our local media so that we, his employers, know exactly where he, and we, stand in the matter of our constitutional rights.

If need be, Sheriff Wilhelmi can deputize citizens to assist him in controlling out-of-control federal and state authorities. Military veterans would be good candidates.

CUT & PASTE --- When the information reached this reporter late yesterday evening, further investigation revealed that there is a nationwide effort to strip local sheriffs of most of their enumerated powers that are mandated in the state constitutions of the various states. Such a move would have the net effect of abolishing local sheriffs departments and strengthening the power of federal law enforcement agencies. --- http://www.examiner.com/article/effort-to-abolish-local-sheriffs-a-stealth-federal-power-grab
