Ob-gyn charged with incompetent, unethical conduct
CLINTON, Iowa – The Iowa Board of Medicine has charged a Clinton ob-gyn with incompetent, unprofessional and unethical conduct, among other things.
According to the board, Dr. Steven Breaux, 55, faces five charges stemming from accusations that he used fraud to procure his license, treated nurses in a “degrading and condescending manner,” improperly prescribed medication, and failed to properly treat two women, one with an abnormal pap smear and one with preeclampsia.
In addition, Breaux lost his Mercy Medical Center privileges on Feb. 2, 2011, but failed to disclose the suspension on his application to renew his license, the board said in a statement.
