Leaf River armed robbery suspect sought by police looking for him

LEAF RIVER – The Ogle County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man who robbed a clerk at knifepoint around 8:47 p.m. Sunday at the Leaf River Citgo, the 400 block of state Route 72.

The man walked into the store, showed the clerk a knife, and took an undisclosed amount of cash and left in a smaller, older model light-colored four-door car, deputies said.

The clerk was not injured.

The man is white, stocky and about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a red, hooded sweatshirt, a camouflage face mask and gloves.
