Thank you for support of food pantry

The Dixon Community Food Pantry is thankful for all cash and food donations we received in 2012.

We gave groceries to 3,579 clients, which totaled 7,038 adults and 4,660 children, for a total of 11,698. We receive no federal, county or United Fund monies, so you can see we depend on you to get us through the year.

We have no paid employees. We are very appreciative to the Lee County Board for giving us free rent, which helps in our buying supplies. We appreciate all of the food drives given by the various schools, especially Sterling Newman High School, the postal workers, the churches, corporations, bridge clubs, car show, and service organizations.

We also give birthday bags for children between the ages of 2 and 10, and we were fortunate to have the Elks Auxiliary and the congregation of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church help in the endeavor.

We are very grateful to the Leydig Center for its support and also to the Sterling Salvation Army. Our goal is to feed the hungry and, with your continued support and our dedicated volunteers, we are getting the job done and giving hope.

Thank you, again, for your help. Have a healthy and happy new year.

Note to readers – Delores Kness is president of the Dixon Community Food Pantry.
