Sterling High hosts
‘Crazy for a Cure’
Throughout the coming week, Sterling High School will have a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society called “Crazy for a Cure.”
A wall of honor will be at each sporting event at the high school during the week. Ribbons representing those who have battled cancer can be bought for $1.
There will also be dessert and gift basket raffles, as well as cookies for sale. Another highlight is the kiss the pig contest, in which the teacher who collects the most money will kiss a pig at halftime of the boys baskeball game Saturday.
Ailing Sharapova cruises at Aussie
Maria Sharapova showed no sign of discomfort as she dismantled fellow Russian Olga Puchkova 6-0, 6-0 to cruise into the second round of the Australian Open on Monday.
Having pulled out of warm-up tournaments after suffering pain in her neck and collarbone, second seed Sharapova appeared desperate for competition but was given little of it in a 55-minute rout.
