STERLING – Not to get your hopes up, but Fiesta Cancun Authentic Mexican Restaurant might open soon.

Eduardo Torres, manager of the Fiesta Cancun in Freeport, which is under the same ownership, told me today that the owner hopes to open the Sterling eatery next month.

The city has not yet issued an occupancy permit for the restaurant at 3203 E. Lincolnway, said Hilda Thielen, code enforcement secretary.

The city did issue a permit in late June Allstate Restaurant Equipment, so it could install an exhaust hood, Thielen said.
