College basketball: Wolverines dig hole too deep in Columbus
As has happened so often the past decade, Michigan’s dreams died Sunday in Columbus, Ohio.
This time it was the basketball team’s perfect 16-0 run and opportunity to take the nation’s No. 1 ranking. Both vanished as the Wolverines fell 56-53 at Value City Arena.
Michigan (16-1, 3-1 Big Ten) overcame a 21-point deficit to tie the game with 6 minutes left had another chance to tie with about 13.9 left, but Trey Burke missed a three when Michigan trailed 52-50.
