ROCK FALLS – The Rock Falls High School board is set to name its new superintendent Wednesday night.
The board interviewed six candidates in three special, closed-session meetings Jan. 5-7. The board then met Thursday in closed session to discuss the candidates and choose a finalist. It planned to meet Friday for the same purpose, but canceled the meeting.
Neither Superintendent Jane Eichman nor board president Merle Gaulrapp returned phone calls Monday seeking more information about the incoming superintendent or the candidate pool from which he or she was chosen.
Eichman announced her retirement in September. Her last day will be June 28.
Eichman has been a superintendent 10 years: 7 at Rock Falls High School and 3 at East Coloma School. She has been in education 40 years.
The district advertised the position in October and accepted applications through early December.
The new superintendent will start July 1 and will be required to live in the district, according to the ad.
The Rock Falls High School board meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in room 137 at the school, 101 12th Ave. For an agenda or more information, call 815-625-3886.
