Senior Brooke Lovgren, 18, is Amboy High School’s December Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Jeff and Mary Lovgren, 51, and, 48. She has a brother, Derek, 23, and a sister, Paige, 22.

Favorite class: Math is my favorite class because it comes easiest to me and I like how it is either right, or it is wrong.

Top teacher: My favorite teacher would have to be a tie between Cynthia Carlson and Liz Scriven. I really like the way Mrs. Carlson teaches math; she has a little analogy or story for each one and they are usually pretty funny and help you remember how to solve the problem. Ms. Scriven also is a fun teacher; I like how she always had a good story to tell each day and she made English class fun, and I looked forward to going to it.

Extracurriculars: Volleyball, basketball, softball, National Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. I played on a traveling softball team, The Amboy Rage, throughout 7 summers.

After graduation: I plan to attend college, but I am not entirely sure yet where or what I would like to major in.

Paycheck: Baby-sitting for my younger cousins whenever I can.

Best friend: Kiara Kaleel. We are a lot alike and have a lot of similarities, so we get along really well. We have never even had a fight.

Favorite singer or musical group: Miranda Lambert.

Favorite actor: Reese Witherspoon.

Favorite movie: “Sweet Home Alabama.”

Favorite TV show: “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Spare time: Hanging out with my friends and family, watching movies, shopping.

Favorite food: French fries.

Dream job: I would like to try being a chef, because I love to eat and it would be cool to be like Paula Dean and have my own show and cook amazing things.

Trading places: I would like to trade places with Miranda Lambert, because I have always wanted to be a country singer, and it would be awesome to go out on tour and see the country and be able to play the guitar and be a good singer.

Biggest fear: Walking in the dark by myself.

What makes your blood boil? Losing a game in sports. I’m really competitive and I hate losing.

Hangouts: My friend’s houses, so we can just hang out and watch movies and, of course, eat.

Survival guide: Just go with the flow and don’t overreact about the little things. Also do your homework; it makes class a lot easier.

Useless knowledge: Sorry, Scriv, but probably poetic devices.

I’m in the dictionary next to: Competitive, because I like to try my best to win.

Personal trivia: I hate cats; they freak me out.

Trading spaces: I would go to Europe. I would love to travel all around there and look at all of the major attractions and get to experience all of the different cultures.

Read this: I love reading anything by Kristin Hannah, but my favorite one of hers was “Night Road.” It was so good I had trouble putting it down.

Shout out to: My grandma, Jane Lovgren.
