Skinner, Lilly claim tournament titles

Shawn Skinner was the 195-pound champion as Rock Falls finished ninth at the 25-team Quincy Invitational on Saturday.

Skinner pinned four opponents on his way to the title. He finished off Quincy Notre Dame’s Jeffrey Haley in 1 minute, 45 seconds in the title bout.

Also for Rock Falls, Carlos Gutierrez was second at 113.

Sterling 6th in Batavia: Heavyweight Curtis Lilly was the Warriors’ lone champion at the 15-team tournament.

Lilly won the title bout with a pin in 1 minute, 8 seconds. Isaac Anderson (113 pounds) and Josh Villarreal (195) earned runner-up finishes, while Jaden Urrutia (106) and Austin Olalde (132) lost third-place matches.

Dukes 19th in Geneseo: Kylian Lally was fourth at 138 points to lead Dixon at the 20-team Geneseo Invitational.

The Dukes finished with 18 points.

Amboy 2nd at own tourney: The Clippers had three champs on their way to a second-place finish in the Amboy Invitational.

Eureka (163.5) and Amboy (142) were the top teams in the 13-team field.

Leading the Clippers were champions Andrew Ferguson (120), Dallas Appleman (170) and Travis Westenfelt (195). Taking second were Trever Ullrich (126), Jason Bontz (152) and Jackson Sorrells (182).

AFC tied for 10th place. The Raiders’ Jake Kaecker was the 152 champ.

Polo crowns 2 champs in Kewanee: Ethan Cain and Zach Hagemann each won titles as Polo finished eighth in the 12-team Kewanee Invitational.

Cain won his title at 145 pounds, and Hagemann at 170.

Fulton, which placed ninth, got a runner-up performance from Aaron Field at 132.
