Lee County Historical Society cleanup
Newly elected Lee County Historical Society president Pat Gorman (left) and Donna Misner work to clean and organize the upstairs of the society headquarters Thursday in Dixon. Photographs, documents and books will be assigned to a different room for research purposes. In just a preliminary cleanup, many historical treasures have been found including a clock that hung in the old Lee County courthouse from 1900 to 1969, a 1937 baseball signed by Chicago Cubs Hall of Famers Joe Tinker and Johnny Evers and Dixon's own Ward Miller and the original charter of the Grand Army of the Republic Dixon Post 299.
