AMBOY – Charles S. Ferguson, 71, of Amboy, formerly of Seattle, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at OSF St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford.

Charles was born Sept. 22, 1941, in Chicago, the son of John and Marjorie (Gallagher) Ferguson.áHe was raised in Wheaton, and while residing there, worked in Chicago as a stockbroker and commodities trader. After relocating to Seattle, he worked in the banking industry and as a private practice lawyer for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Seattle. Charles was an avid reader, and enjoyed classical music and sports, especially baseball.áHe served as a first lieutenant in the Army, and was stationed in Korea in 1967.

He is survived by his sisters, Judy (Dennis) Marsili of Amboy, and Susan (Gerard) Gomes of West Boylston, Mass.; three nephews; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy, with Monsignor Thomas Bales officiating. Burial, with military graveside honors by the Amboy American Legion, will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota. Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established.
