Sen. Bivins gets crack at Republican whip position
SPRINGFIELD – State Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, was chosen Wednesday to serve as Senate Republican whip.
Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno, R-Lemont, asked Bivins to assume the role.
“The role of Whip is to ensure discipline, order and attendance in our caucus, and Sen. Bivins’ background in law enforcement will serve him well in this position,” Radogno said in a news release.
“His service in the Legislature, which has earned him the respect of his colleagues, and his work on behalf of the citizens of northwestern Illinois will bring a valuable perspective to our Caucus leadership team.”
Bivins was sworn in as the 45th District state senator Wednesday. He has served in the Senate since March 2008.
“A leadership position will allow me an even stronger voice in strategy and policy decisions,” Bivins said in the release.
“I appreciate Leader Radogno’s confidence and look forward to helping guide legislation that reflects the interests of the hard-working citizens of Illinois.”
Bivins’ local office is at 629 N. Galena Ave. in Dixon. Call 815-284-0206 with questions or concerns.
