POLO – Robert L. Burke, 87, of Polo, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. He was an over-the-road truck driver for many years.

Robert was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Beatrice, Neb., the son of Benjamin C. and Beryl I. (Rile) Burke. He was a veteran of the Navy. He married Linda Shuman on June 21, 1963, in Morrison.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Teresa (Paul) Jenkins of Polo; sons, Steve (Marti) Burke of Greenwood, Neb., Robert Deshazer of Texas, Robert Burke of Maryland, and Richard Burke of Genoa; brother, Ralph Burke of Oologah, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by brothers, Dean, Don and Warren Burke.

A celebration of his life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Polo Senior Center. Polo Family Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
