Fassler case still in discovery: Next hearing Feb. 20; no trial date yet

DIXON – The attorney for Tiffany Fassler, accused of killing her stepson, said Wednesday that he is still waiting for 14,000 pages of discovery and medical records.

The discovery will be turned over in the next 2 weeks, Lee County State’s Attorney Anna Sacco-Miller said during a short hearing Wednesday.

Fassler’s attorney, Paul Whitcombe, told Associate Judge Jacquelyn Ackert that both sides were making “good progress” on discovery.

Fassler will be back in court Feb. 20.

The 37-year-old Dixon woman is charged with first-degree murder and four counts of aggravated battery of a child in the death of Colton Fassler, 7.

Prosecutors say she kicked him in the chest on Dec. 30, 2010; he hit his head on a metal vanity, suffered brain damage and died nearly a year later. 

A trial date has not yet been set.
