Don’t count out the Dukes until all the pins are counted.

Dixon roared back from a ho-hum morning at the Northern Illinois Big 12 conference bowling tournament at Bowl Mor Lanes in Streator to win the event with 6,969 total pins.

The Dukes sat in third place after the afternoon session with 3,307 pins. With 3,662 in the afternoon, they rolled past DeKalb (6,897).

After winning the event by more than 300 pins last year, the Dukes trailed the Barbs by 100 pins before combining for 1,248 pins in the sixth and final game.

Josh Rex led the evening charge with a 725 three-game series. His 1,274 total pins were tops at the event, and his 259 closing game was the third-highest of the day. He was outdone by teammate Andrew Hamburg’s 264 finale, the second-highest game of the event. His 1,243 series ranked fourth. Connor Allen was third with 1,251.
