FREEPORT – Janet Schwarz Swanson, 52, of Freeport, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. She worked at Dixon Correctional Center and FHN Clinic and Crusader Clinic, both in Freeport.

Janet was born Dec. 9, 1961, in Mendota, the daughter of Lloyd and Shirley (Bodmer) Schwarz. She graduated from Rock Falls High School, in the class of 1980, and from Sauk Valley Community College’s nursing program as a licensed practical nurse. She married Steve Swanson on June 9, 2006.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; one daughter, Emily Roth; two stepsons, Chris and Brady; her mother, Shirley Schwarz of Rock Falls; one brother, Brad (Lisa) of Burleson, Texas; one stepbrother, Lloyd Schwarz Jr. of Dixon; and one stepsister, Peggy (Mike) Corrigon of Ottawa.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Schwarz; sister, Wendy in infancy; and grandparents, Paul and Ruth Bodmer and Fred and Viola Schwarz.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with the memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling. An open house will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at 948 W. Lincoln St., Freeport. Walker Mortuary in Freeport is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the family.
