Cocaine dealer gets 12 years

MORRISON – A Sterling felon is serving a 12-year sentence for selling 173 grams of cocaine to an informant in May 2011.

Rogelio Amezola, 37, must serve 75 percent, or 9 years. He was given credit for 593 days served in Whiteside County Jail.

He also was given a concurrent 12-year sentence for violating his probation on a 2007 drug case.

Amezola, who was sentenced Jan. 2, must pay more than $20,000 in court fines and fees.

He pleaded guilty to delivery of between 100 and 400 grams of cocaine, a Class X felony.

In 2007, Amezola was sentenced to 5 years of probation on a cocaine charge. 

In 2009, he was re-sentenced to 120 days in jail for violating his probation. He also received 2 years of probation in 2008 in a DUI case. In 2001, he got 2 months of probation for misdemeanor battery.
