J.R. Cunningham

DIXON – J.R. Cunningham, 80, of Dixon, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at KSB Hospital in Dixon. He worked for Super Sweet Feeds in Dixon, before retiring.

J.R. was born Aug. 20, 1932, in Mayfield, Ky., the son of Blufford and Annie Pauline (Sullivan) Cunningham. He married Joyce L. Fisher on July 19, 1952, in Morrison.  She preceded him in death on Aug. 8, 2009.  

Survivors include two sons, Royce (LaChele) Cunningham of Lee Center and Randy Schroeder of Brainerd, Minn.; five daughters, Brenda (Robert) Goldie, Valerie Dayton, and Paula (Edward) Lane, all of Dixon, Debra (LeRoy) Dennis of Rockford, and Rhonda Wilkinson of St. Charles; one sister, Retta (John Underhile) Cunningham of Dixon; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Brian Cunningham; and two sons-in-law, Tony Dayton and Michael Farster.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., with family present from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Vincent O. Marrandino, director of pastoral care at KSB Hospital, officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.

A memorial has been established.
