Helen I. Schreiner

STERLING – Helen I. Schreiner, 92, of Sterling, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Helen was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Freeport, the daughter of Frank A. and Bertha G. (Rucker) Folk. She married Irvin “Kip” Schreiner on Oct. 1, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2000. Helen was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sterling and the Sterling Moose.

Survivors include two daughters, Gloria (Bruce) Kunde of Sterling and Jenise Hill of Dixon; one son, James (Jody) Schreiner of  Fredonia, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Jolea (David) Allen, Jana (Jason) Maxwell, Karlynn (Tim) Dale, Kory (Laura) Kunde, Keely (Mike) Guerrieri, Keesha (Chris) Blumhoff, Michelle (Ed) Roberts, Lorrain (Allen) McAlister, and Kyle (Racheal Dahler) Hill; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Viola “Totsie” Dykema of Mount Morris.

She also was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, with the Rev. Paul Judd, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. 

A memorial has been established.
