Boys roundup: Interone's three wins lead Sterling

Warriors swim past Moline

Keanu Interone won three events to lead the Sterling Golden Warriors swim team to a 93.5-92.5 victory on the road Thursday over the Moline Maroons.

Interone won the 200 IM (2:11.82) and 100 breaststroke (1:00.09), and teamed with Sam Wike, Keaton Dir and Andrew Blackburn to take the 200 medley relay (1:48.47).

Dir added a win in the 500 freestyle (5:06.98), and Tanner Morse won the diving competition with 184.05 points.

DeKalb 138, Byron 91, Woodstock North 91: The Tigers tied for second in a home triangular, with Jackson Halsmer winning two events for the Byron co-op.

Halsmer won the 50 freestyle (21.79 seconds) and the 100 free (48.41). Dixon junior Aaron Helander won the 200 IM for Byron in 2 minutes, 0.53 seconds.

Ottawa 62, Newman 32: The Pirates nearly doubled up the Comets in Ottawa.


Steamers split two: Steven Balk won a pair of bouts at 285 pounds for Fulton in a win over Putnam County (39-37) and a loss to Amboy (47-18) in Fulton.

Amboy received wins from Andrew Ferguson (120), Trever Ullrich (126), Ryon Richardson (132), Jason Bontz (152), Dallas Appleman (170) and Jackson Sorrells (82) against Fulton.

Marcos drop pair: Ethan Cain (145) and Jeff Kimpel (182) won bouts for the Marcos in a 39-27 loss at Winnebago. Polo also lost to Lena-Winslow, 78-0.
