4-H members still can sign up to ski

MOUNT CARROLL – Carroll County 4-H members can sign up through Thursday for a Jan. 21 ski trip to Chestnut Mountain near Hanover.

The cost is $23 per person for a lift ticket and rental, or $41 if adding a ski or snowboard lesson. Registration forms are available at web.extension.illinois.edu/clw/carroll4h/2781.html or at the Carroll County Extension office, 807D S. Clay St.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
