OTTAWA – Mary B. McCormack, 94, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at LaSalle County Nursing Home in Ottawa.

Mary was born Nov. 30, 1918, in LaSalle, to Adam and Helen (Wylepski) Rachwalski. She married Eugene McCormack on May 6, 1939, at St. Columba Rectory in Ottawa. He passed away on Sept. 9, 2009. She retired from Illinois Office Supply and owned McCormack’s Tap in Ottawa. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Naplate, Catholic Daughters of Americas and the Graphic Arts Union.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Ronald) Samolinski of LaSalle and Teresa (Michael) Brunick of Dixon; one son, Eugene “Skip” (Nancy) McCormack of Oak Park; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold (Phyllis) Rafalski of Florida and Eugene (Jan) Rafalski of Ottawa.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Joe; and three sisters, Florence in infancy, Sophie Redlich, and Vernie Peterson.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Ottawa Funeral Home, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Saturday at St. Mary Church, with the Rev. Jules Adator officiating. Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa. Pallbearers will be Nicholas and Eric Brunick, Steven and Bryan Samolinski, Jeff McCormack, Sean and Sam Visconti, and Greg and Henry Harper.

Memorials may be directed to Marquette Academy or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
