Gail F. Greene

PRINCETON – On Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, Gail F. Greene was welcomed into heaven by her Lord, and joyfully reunited with her husband, the Rev. Richard W. Greene. Her death followed a short illness.

Born in Omaha, Neb., to Dr. David and Lenore Findley, Gail Greene graduated with honors from Monticello College in Alton. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Northwestern University Evanston Hospital School of Nursing. She was married on May 18, 1963, to the Rev. Richard W. Greene. Gail’s professional resume included a teaching post at Illinois Valley Community College in LaSalle; a staff position at Presbyterian – St. Luke Hospital in Chicago; and more recently as executive director of In-Home Care VNA in Princeton.

During her 23-year tenure as chief administrator of In-Home Care VNA, she developed a network of cooperative working relationships with health care providers throughout the area. She served on numerous regional and national boards – among them, the National Association for Homecare and Hospice, Visiting Nurse Association of America, and the Illinois Homecare Council. She also served on the Illinois Department of Public Health Home CareAdvisory Committee and the Illinois Attorney General’s Advisory Committee on Senior Issues. In 2005, she was honored with the prestigious Helen Heyrman Award, which recognizes an individual in the home health care field whose service has demonstrated an exemplary level of excellence and leadership.
