Folsom’s Bakery re-opens

ROCK FALLS – Folsom’s Bakery opened Tuesday after a 2-week hiatus during which some renovation work was done, including moving drying racks to make more space for customers, co-owner Jim Helle said.

Beauty shop will move into Morrison building

MORRISON – Bob and Debby Vaughn have bought the building at 207 W. Main St., next to three other buildings that they own, Bob Vaughn said. A beauty shop will lease the building after renovations are complete, he said.

The remodeling is expected to take about 6 months, he said. Vaughn declined to name the beauty shop.

Dixon Main Street names board members

Dixon Main Street announced its board members for 2013, including Scott Brown of Wendler Engineering as its new president and John Jones of Kitzman’s as its vice president.

Other members are: secretary Donna Louise Jasper of Blackhawk Insurance, treasurer Laura Bock of Sauk Valley Properties, past president Kevin Marx of KSB Hospital, Ryan Marshall of The Stables, Becky Reilly of The Telegraph, Mike Venier of Venier Jewelers, Jim Gallentine of Mama Cimino’s and Bill Mick of Raynor.

Wise saw collapse in support

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
