Fire destroys mobile home at Rock River Estates

Firefighters work to put out a fire that destroyed a mobile home Tuesday afternoon at the corner of Cherokee Lane and Rock River Drive at Rock River Estates, 291 state Route 2, between Dixon and Sterling.

The Dixon Rural Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 2:54 p.m. and worked for 4 hours to put out the blaze, Assistant Chief Sid Aurand said. The man who lives at the home by himself and was home at the time the fire started was not injured, Ken Hauck, owner of Rock River Estates, said.

The man was taken away from the scene by ambulance, though, Aurand said.
