Two incumbents vying for Polo mayor

POLO – Two current Polo aldermen – Doug Knapp, Ward 2, and Randy Schoon, Ward 3 – are seeking the city’s top spot in the April 9 election.

Mayor Mark Scholl is not seeking another term.

Both Knapp and Schoon have 2 years remaining in their 4-year terms as aldermen.

Incumbent Ward 3 Alderman Cheryl Galor is seeking another term on the council and will be challenged by Tamela Merdian.

In Ward 1, former alderman David Ackeburg filed for the seat now held by Norm Carroll, who is not seeking re-election.

In Ward 2, Matt Mekeel filed to retain his seat.

City Clerk Susie Corbitt and Treasurer Kris Clothier also are seeking another term.

All terms are 4 years.
