More goals for a new year

That's pretty cool.

We also started shooting videos on a regular basis. It started with a Pigskin Primer each week during the football season, and that has evolved into #SVMhoopin in the winter.

Don't be surprised to see the first episode of #SVMgrapplin in the next week or two.

We'll also continue to shoot videos at games when possible and post those on saukvalley.com.

The last thing that we've been working on is a new website catering to those interested in local high school sports.

We received the template for the site way back in August. Since then, we've tinkered with getting the massive amount of data into the site so that it is extremely comprehensive for our new online readers.

We've even added a part-time staffer whose duty will be to help update and maintain the website. The ultimate goal being that the site will allow us to increase the amount of coverage for local teams and offer new types of coverage that the Sauk Valley has not experienced.

That will include blogs, videos, live chats and comprehensive stats and scores.

The game plan is to have that up and running before the end of the basketball season.

See these are exciting times to be around Sauk Valley sports.

So, Happy New Year and let's all resolve to have a great 2013.

Good or bad? Depends on who you ask

Sometimes readers ask for more good news in the paper. They say we in the media only cover the bad. But one person's positive is another's negative.

My kind of game

I would have gladly paid to take in the game I covered Saturday morning in Morrison.
