Mary A. Pierce

MORRISON – Mary A. Pierce, 79, of Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. She was a rental agent for 25 years at Lawson Enterprises in Williamsburg, Va..

Mary was born Jan. 17, 1933, in Morrison, the daughter of Louis and Jennie (Vos) Geerts. She married John T. Pierce on April 21, 1953, in Morrison. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1986. She was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Robert (Shirley) Geerts and Alan (Donna) Geerts, both of Morrison.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
