Comets grab victory

The Newman Comets bounced back from a second-round loss Thursday at the State Farm Classic in Normal and took care of Camp Point Central 40-30.

Hannah Erickson led Newman (10-5) with 11 points and Jaimie Hurd added 10.

Torie Conover scored nine points to lead Central.

Mary Alice Oswalt scored 10 points for the Comets in their 58-29 loss to Prairie Central earlier. Laura Crane tossed in 27 points to lead the Hawks.

Bishop McNamara 51, Rock Falls 46: Bailey Schrader scored 15 points and Morgan Mammosser added 14 for the Rockets (6-9) in a State Farm Classic loss to the Fighting Irish.

Khadaizha Sanders led Bishop Mac with 11 points.

Erie tournament

Erie 57, Ridgewood 44: Four players fouled out in a physical game that saw the Cardinals take an 18-8 lead after one.

Courtney Cobert led Erie (10-5) and all scorers with 19 points. Ashley Collins led Ridgewood with 16. The teams committed 49 total fouls.

Wethersfield 67, Fulton 60: A 23-14 disadvantage in the third period spelled the Steamers' demise.

Morgan Wierema led Fulton (6-11) with 21 points, while Sarah Hansen led Wethersfield with 26. Morgan Sanquist added 18 for Fulton, which shot 10-for-14 from the line as a team.

Stockton 50, Bureau Valley 10: Lacey DeVenney scored four points for the Storm (1-14) in a loss to the Blackhawks at Erie.

Rockridge 47, Morrison 25: Ashley Greul had nine points and Chelsea Eads added seven for the Fillies (2-11) in a loss to the Rockets.

Prophetstown tournament

Prophetstown 68, West Carroll 20: The Prophets led 22-2 after the first quarter and cruised past the visiting Thunder.

Mikayla Bolton paced Prophetstown with 12 points, while Molly Corbin and Cassie Reiley added 11 apiece.

Kaylee Vos scored eight points for West Carroll.

Prophetstown 61, Proviso East 30: Corrie Reiley scored 14 points to lead the Prophets past the Pirates.

Also for Prophetstown (16-1), Riley Walters had 13 points and Cassie Reiley added 12.

Orion 59, West Carroll 38: Ieshia Larson scored 18 points for the Thunder (2-8) in their second loss of the day at Prophetstown.

Cassidy Clark poured in 33 points for Orion.
