DIXON – Six candidates will vie for four open seats on the Dixon School Board come April.

Incumbents Woody Lenox and Pam Tourtillet are among the six running, along with the recently appointed John Jacobs, Jon Gieson, Josh Arduini and Terry Shroyer. Each of the four available seats are 4-year terms.

Board President Tom Balser announced earlier this month he will not run again. Balser has served on the school board for 12 years.

The deadline to announce a candidacy for school board was 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Names will appear on the ballot in the order they filed. Gieson, Jacobs and Lenox each filed at 7:30 a.m. on the first day to turn in their petitions, meaning there will be a lottery among them to determine the order they appear on the ballot.

Next in line will be Arduini, Shroyer, then Tourtillet.

Superintendent Michael Juenger said three other individuals picked up the initial paperwork to run for school board but chose not to run.

Good or bad? Depends on who you ask

Sometimes readers ask for more good news in the paper. They say we in the media only cover the bad. But one person's positive is another's negative.
